A simple breakfast or snack idea with these fragrant puff pastry pinwheels stuffed with Nutella and a pinch of cinnamon.
Makes about 12 pinwheels, Preparation time 5 mins, Cooking time 20 mins
- 1 pre-made puff pastry roll dough
- Nutella, to taste
- Cinnamon powder, to taste
- 1 beaten egg for egg-wash
- Icing sugar, to garnish
Method
Preheat oven to 175 C – 350F – Gas Mark 4.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Unroll the puff pastry dough and prick it with the tines of a fork so it won’t swollen during baking time.
Spread a layer of Nutella evenly across the puff pastry surface, leaving leaving a margin from the edge of about 1 cm on all the sides.
Add a pinch of cinnamon on Nutella layer.
Roll dough back up by shaping a cilinder. With a knife, slice dough about 1inch thick getting dough pinwheels and place them on the baking sheet and brush them with egg wash.
Tip: No egg-wash? Just use some milk to brush.
Bake for about 15-20 minutes or until edges turn slightly brown.
Pull out from the oven, allow to cool them down a bit, then sprinkle with some icing sugar and serve.
