Marinara sauce is perhaps the simplest and quickest sauce in the Neapolitan tradition: tomato, garlic, oregano.
These beef steaks are called alla Pizzaiola, which roughly means ‘pizza-style’ precisely because they are seasoned with marinara sauce, which is the basis of pizza toppings.

- Beef steaks otherwise you can replace beef with veal: 400 g
- Canned peeled tomatoes : 500 g
- Garlic cloves: 3
- Extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) or Olive Oil: 3 tablespoons
- Oregano, dried: a generous handful
- Salt : to taste
Method
You can cook the steaks whole or cut them into chunks, preferably not too small.
Heat the oil in a large frying pan and brown the garlic.
You can remove the garlic from the pan or leave it, as you prefer. Add the tomato sauce, oregano and a pinch of salt, stir and cook for about 10-15 minutes.
Now place the steaks directly in the frying pan covering them with tomato sauce and cook for 1-2 minutes on each side, the tomato sauce should thicken a little.
Serve hot with a drizzle of olive oil.
