This smoothie is the ultimate healthy snack: it’s full of vitamins, proteins, minerals, anthocyanins and antioxidants – and it tastes great as well.
It’s so energising that it’s perfect as for breakfast and as a healthy drink for a snack.
Serves: 2 | Preparation time: 5 mins
- Room temperature water: 80 ml
- Soy or goat milk: 70 ml
- Blackberries: 8
- Cocoa beans: 4
- Bananas: 1
- Cinnamon powder: half a tsp
- Optional – Oat/spelt/wholegrain biscuits: 3
Method
Wash blackberries, peel banana and cut it in small pieces.
Put the ingredients all together in a food processor. Make sure that the water is at room temperature for optimal results.
Blend for a couple of minutes, checking every now and then whether the cocoa beans have been crushed as well; as they are pretty bitter, it’s important to not leave big pieces in the smoothie.
Once all the ingredients are blended together in a homogeneous texture, your smoothie is ready to be served.

I was just about to make this and realized I had a question. Oat/spelt/wholegrain biscuit = does this mean oatmeal cookies? I am from America and I know biscuits mean something else in Europe/other countries.
Hi Jeannette,
yep right, Biscuits = Cookies 🙂
I need to catch up on smoothies – I know how healthy they are and definitely one-of-a-kind source of vitamins, minerals and atioxidants. And I’ve been always saying that it is impossible to eat as much as you use in a smoothie – hence all the boost! Can’t wait to try your version.
The addition of the cocoa beans in this is pure genius, such a beautiful colour too!
Thank you for this comment, Brian
Yes, the colour is quite suggestive!
I never think of combining fruit and chocolate but what a great idea and blackberries are full of so much anti oxidant power, this is both healthy and delicious I am sure.
Thank you Mireille,
it’s a full of energy and antioxidants, cocoa and fruit match just perfectly!
I have tons of wild blackberries on my property and I’m always looking for different blackberry recipes! I can’t wait to try this version with cocoa beans! Yum!
