These almonds coated in sugar bring back so many memories from our childhood: going with the family to the food market, or to the fun fair, and snacking on them between one ride on the rollercoaster and another one on the merry-go-round… With this recipe, you bring the fun fair directly to your home!

Makes: about 300g of almonds | Preparation time: 5 mins | Cooking time: 15 mins

  • Almonds: 280 g
  • Brown sugar: 200 g
  • Water: 120 ml
  • Cinnamon: 1 tbsp

Method

Combine the sugar, water and cinnamon in a saucepan and bring to a boil.

Add the almonds, lower the heat and stir continuously with a wooden spoon to make sure the almonds are evenly coated and don’t burn.

It will take about 10-15 minutes for the water to evaporate completely; don’t leave the pan unattended, or the caramel will burn.

Remove from the heat and put the almonds on a work surface lined with baking paper. Use the wooden spoon to separate the almonds, otherwise they will stick to each other.

Leave the almonds to cool completely to room temperature before serving.
